Regulations govern the navigation of civil aircraft in Nigerian airspace by defining airspace classes and navigation requirements. They target airlines, pilots, and air traffic providers. This ensures safe air travel for all.

CIVIL AVIATION (AIR NAVIGATION) REGULATIONS

What Is This Policy?

Regulations governing the navigation of civil aircraft in Nigerian airspace, covering airspace classification, route requirements, navigation equipment, and performance standards.

Who Does It Target?

Airlines and aircraft operators Pilots and navigators Air traffic management providers NCAA airspace management officials

What Does It Aim to Achieve?

Ensure safe navigation of all civil aircraft in Nigerian airspace through defined airspace structures, route networks, navigation performance requirements, and associated procedures.

Key Features

Airspace Classification: Defines Classes A through G airspace in Nigerian skies with different rules for each class. Routes and Waypoints: Prescribes designated airways, standard departure and arrival routes, and waypoints. Navigation Performance: Sets Required Navigation Performance (RNP) standards for operations in different airspace. Separation Standards: Prescribes minimum separation between aircraft in different airspace categories.

Current Status

Rollout Stage: Active Coverage: All Nigerian airspace Beneficiaries: Aviation safety; efficiency; all airspace users Funding: NAMA route charges

How to Access

Aircraft must be equipped with navigation systems meeting the requirements of each airspace class Flight plans must be filed for all IFR operations Pilots must hold appropriate ratings for the navigation procedures they intend to use Application method: Compliance is mandatory; engage NAMA for airspace and navigation queries.
