National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy (NCPS) 2021 (Revised)

Policy · Security

Edition: 2021

The February 2021 policy coordinates Nigeria’s cybersecurity efforts, develops human and technological capacity, and promotes cooperation across government, industry, academia and civil society. Later legal duties require separate sources.

What is the policy?

The National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy is a government framework for Nigeria’s cybersecurity efforts. The original document’s cover identifies the February 2021 edition. Its presidential foreword endorses the framework and describes it as a review of the earlier policy.

What does it aim to achieve?

The foreword calls for coordinated responses to changing cyber threats, stronger human and technological capacity, and regional and international cooperation. It identifies the private sector, academia, industry and civil society as participants alongside government.

Why it matters

Cybersecurity policy connects national security with the opportunities of the digital economy. Organisations can consult the original framework when planning their cybersecurity work.

Verification scope

This explanation is based on the cover and presidential foreword (printed page iii). February 2021 is an edition month, not a verified exact approval day. Current implementation and later legislation require separate official sources. Unverified levy rates, penalties, reporting deadlines and workforce targets from the previous explanation have been removed.
