Legal Framework

The Immigration and Prisons Services Board Act established a joint personnel management board for immigration and prisons staff. It is recognized under Section 315 of the 1999 Constitution as an existing law, and has been largely superseded by separate institutional frameworks — the Nigeria Immigration Service Act and the Correctional Services Act 2019 (which reformed the Nigerian Prisons Service into the Nigerian Correctional Service).
