Legal Framework
The NYSC Bye-Laws operate under the National Youth Service Corps Decree 1973 (now NYSC Act), which established compulsory national service for Nigerian graduates. They derive constitutional authority from Section 315 of the 1999 Constitution (existing laws). The NYSC Act aligns with the 1999 Constitution (Section 24 — duties of citizens), the National Youth Policy, and the Federal Character Commission Act on equitable deployment of corps members across all states.
